Toci, La Diosa LLC - Began one day as an epiphany. Getting injured in a skiing accident changed the path my life was going. This is when my now menu of invigorating, organic skin care products came into existence.
Toci La Diosa started in January of 2021. I sat on my computer actively looking to create an LLC, filing an FEIN number, determining what the business name would be - this was the hardest. The name would ultimately represent my brand and my vision and mission. From January 2021 to December 2021 we focused on having an online shop. We also participated in Vendor Pop-Ups and Farmers Markets - Cedar Lake and Crete.
January of 2022 - We opened our Brick and Mortar in the South East Side of Chicago. This was one of the hardest decisions I’ve made. It’s terrifying not knowing what the outcome would be. Doing business in Chicago has been expensive and stressful but also extremely exciting and rewarding.
Who are we?
Ines Ornelas - Owner- I’m a 47 year old single mother. I was born and raised in South Chicago. I am the youngest of 8 siblings. We are originally from Guanajuato Mexico.
Sophia Ornelas - My 14 year old daughter. She is a freshman in an art school in Chicago. She is the reason why I work so hard. My dreams for her future are for her to be infinitely happy. Everything that I do - I do with her in mind.
Norton, Obsidian Wan and Jolene are our 3 pets. Norton and ObiWan are our cats and Jolene is our almost one year old puppy. They are active but are so extremely sweet - They are a perfect addition to our family.
Toci La Diosa started with a vast variation of aromatic bath salts, but the menu quickly grew. Recovering from the skiing accident was a daunting and difficult one. Having most of my bones broken from a near death accident at the age of 23, pushing my body to the extreme- working out 7 days a week, running, swimming, biking, lifting put a toll on my already damaged body. Now with a dislocated knee and a torn ACL put my physical goals on hold indefinitely.
Toci, La Diosa is now something more than what I had imagined - We have become a collective of business owners. A shared space in which small businesses can showcase their art, their merchandise and their services. I’m proud of the direction in which our collective is going.
